howdy guys. lookin to pick up some new tires for one of my rigs. thinkin bout gettin some bfg mud terrains. this is for my rig that i drive daily but still off road in weekly. im runnin stock width and 32" for highth. i have 3in of lift on her. what yall think in the ways of new tires. i want somethin that will perform good offroad yet still keep decent on-road life. any input is greatly appreciated!
i hate it when u get to that point where your tires lose their tread and they get all slicked up with mud
I usually recomend Hawgs to somebody who wants on road longevity and decent off-road performance, but thats in the biggger flavors. Since you'll running a smaller tire you might want to look at some of the radial swampers too...
I imagine the BFG mts would last longer on road but do worse off-road.
thanks for the tip pro. yea im stickin with the smaller tires for this truck...i need atleast one truck with decent gas mileage
however, i still mud in it so radial swampers sound good to me
any good sites out there with deals on em??
bein in high skool with two big trucks, one being a project truck really puts a dent in yur wallet...
Iterco TrXus M/T's are supposed to be a litlle softer than the BFG's so they have worse tread life (30-40k), but they are just as quiet and are more versatile off road. To top it all off they're a helluva lot cheaper than the BFG's

this is actualla very important question....mtr's suck in the mud as well as micky thompsons......but mtr's are better on the rocks than boggers. Hawgs are awesome when you drive on the road a lot and BFG KM's are just going with the bandwagon! I myself are about to get a nice brand new set of IROK's can't wait til they get here!
i like my goodyear MT/Rs, they last forever, and are really tough, and are decent in the mud...they grab at everything...but the biggest selling point about the MT/Rs is that you can get them at walmart for hlf the price of anywhere else...so you can buy two sets for as much as you will pay for a tire at some name place like les schwab
I would try a set of tsl swamper SSR they were rated best versatile tire a year ago they have siping for rain and ice and still have the voids and lugs for mud and have heard some people getting pretty good mileage out of them 30k-45k I mean that is about the best you get out of a mud tire they werent designed to be a 50k-60k tire if you want that get some street tires or a ford taurus
my terrain is mud, not much in the ways of rocks around mid illinois. i also dont have to worry as much about tearin up stuff like driveshafts, ouch...expensive anyways, hey fishman are hawgs pretty good in mud, and do they make em in 32"? if so wheres a good place to get em? and by the way, IROKs are awesome , a buddy of mine has em...sweet
hey thanks ncl, im gonna look those up tonight

Yes the trxus mt was rated #1 and is a excellent tire it would also be a good choice just depends on your wallet the ssr's are more money but will last longer and are better in the mud. The trxus mt pattern is closer together and doesnt have the bigger lugs they are cheaper than the ssr and quieter on the road it just depends on what you want I currently run the regular TSL radials they have no siping but they have monster lugs and tear up the mud kinda noisy but nothin is better than a set of swampers comin down the road.
Maxxis Buckshot Mudders are hard to beat for the money in the terrain you described. The TrXsus MTs intrigue me and the price isn't that bad relatively speaking.
ditto on what Fishmann said below about National tire. . . ntonline.com

hawgs are pretty decent in mud....they are really stiff though so they give a rough ride and they don't conform to the terrain as well. they are directional so you better hope you get through w/o backing up or you may just dig a grave. Here are some specs straight from the horses mouth! best place I have found to get any serious tire is National Tire and Wheel, always had good experiences with them!
thanx for the info about the IROK's....how are they on the street? i haven't ordered them quite yet!
Interco Super Swamper TSL's, 32x9.50x15,16,16.5. Great tire, noisy as heck on the street, but you cant beat it with anything other than Boggers. BFG's are way overrated, Buckshots are good, hawgs are big, wide and, IMHO, don't do well except when cut for racing.
Courser Mud Terrain's are also good tires.
