Pioneer Premier Remote Controls

To anyone who has an idea:

someone gave me a generalization the other day that any head unit with a P in the name... hence, Pioneer, will accept a pioneer remote control. Is this 'generally' right? I have a low end Premier deck that did not come with a remote control but he assures me that one will work with it. Is he BS'n me?

Well there's only one way to find out, walk in to an car audio store say "Lemme borrow this real quick" and try it out.

My thought is, if the unit didn't come with a remote then why the hell would they build in the features to allow a remote. It seems that would be a collosal waste of time if they were not going to package the deal with a remote, putting a feature in that no profit could come out of. But, you never know.

not sure
I have an Alpine that did not come with a remote, but is compatable. Alpine that year sold the remote as an option on some decks. I think thats a great idea, why pay for the remote if you won't use it?

anyhow, I think if you have the IR sensor eye, a pioneer remote should work.whether you have the eye or not, I have no idea.

does anyone know of any universal remotes that are programmed for car stereos?

i have no clue if it has an IR eye or not... lol, those lenses are soo dark. Maybe i'll grab a flashlight and shine into it and see. All else fails, my friend who i know has a remote will be back soon and i'll borrow it and see. Just food for thought, thanks!
