Fender flares

dont know if it goes here or in the body section (I'll post there too), but here goes...

I have the factory fender flares on my 99 4x4. i like the size and shape of them, but the finish could use some work. They look like a kind of vinyl finish but they are plastic. ( you know all the little ridges) I was wondering if i could put bondo on them and paint, or are they too flexible and the bondo would crack. I want them to have a glossy look (chrome if i can find a quality paint, or maybe aluminum). if any one has done this or has anything to say about it let me know. thanx.

I'd pass on that project. You'd never get the surface smooth enough to use with "tell-tale" paint. You would get away with it if you painted them flat black.
