Hello,
I'm new to the forum. When I start my 86 it immeadiatly has a fast idle drops revs then surges up then drops. It does it whether it is cold or hot. Is this normal? Tks,

Try the old clean the throttle body and IAC valve trick. These engines are famous for getting sticky gum built up around the throttle body area. The IAC is the Idle Control Valve, and bolts to theside of the throttle body.

Ya do what he ^^^ said. Make sure you use throttle body cleaner and not carb cleaner. Good luck!

Ok, what would you say would be the best way to clean the TB and IAC? After spraying the cleaner can I use a bristle brush and scrub the inside of the throttle body or will the scrubing cause any damage?
