Everyone seems to want more hp out of there 6. But I wanna get more torque and am wondering what would be the best procedure to go about doing this? shoud I go with the tipical "flow" mods I already have a good exhaust setup but havent done anything to the intake. I want to snap axils and twist drive shafts. Im sick of these guys with new trucks thinking that the got somthing cause there hemi is rated at 344 horsepower. All the new trucks have to crank so many r's to get anything done. while our sixes already make as much torque at 2200 rpms as these new jobies do at 4500. The new trucks arent trucks anymore. I like being able to say that I drive a real truck with a real truck motor what should I do to improve my "truckienes" (is that a word?) thanks for the input
HP = Torque x RPM / 5252
All you need to do to make more HP is enable the engine to spin faster. To make more torque you need it to breathe better at existing RPMs. On a 300 that means better exhaust, a head cleanup, an RV camshaft, a small 4V carb on a better intake.
Since you've got EFI, you've got some other challenges. The fuel system limits any significant performance gains, but the free flowing exhaust is readily available. Check with the cam manufacturers about a cam swap. You may eventually need to upgrade to 19 # injectors if you push the mods far enough.
