Autolite 4100

Any of you guys running one of these? I just purchased one in good shape and have installed a kit in it. Put it on the truck and it runs great. The only issue I had is that the secondary rod was missing so I had to make one up- I just don't know if I got the length correct. Can someone measure the distance from the secondary lever to the secondary throttle shaft?

Also could an incorrect length be the cause of the secondaries sticking open while the truck is running? The shafts have no slop in them and when the lever is disconnected the secondaries will flop back and forth with no resistance. They stick open after a run down the street at full throttle and after you shut the engine down they flop closed.

Thanks-

Joe

I'll have to go dig it out to measure. The secondaries are closed as the primaries close past part trottle by a "pin" that sticks out from the choke/ fast idle cam on the prmary lever the "pushes" against the front side of that cam that is on the secondary shaft. It limits the secondaries from opening untill a certain amount of primary opening.

THANK YOU- I appreciate the information. I was thinking about what closes the secondaries last night but didn't really look at it while I was installing the kit.

Pat- you're the KING. I went out this morning to check to make sure the rod was still in place- the one that shuts the secondaries from the high idle lever. IT WAS MISSING. I made one from a piece of 3/16" steel rod and it works perfectly. I don't guess I'll need the distance from the diaphragm lever to the secondary throttle lever. If you do have it by the time you read this, go ahead and post it so I can double-check. If not- that's o.k.

Thanks for your time-

Joe
