Battery light coming on
Hello All
Just had a question about the battery lite coming on during hard exceleration on my 00 5.4 expy 4wd EB. I changed out the belt and the tensioner seems to be working properly. The lite comes on about 3- 4 k rpms which doesnt seem very high. If I accel easy it never comes on. Which is why i changed out the belt. Any help would be appreciated.

your alternator is going out. Mine did the exact same thing. As soon as it shifts up the light goes off. I brought mine into Advance auto and they ran a system test on the charging system. They found that the higher the RPM the less voltage the altermator is putting out. I replaced the alternator with a new one and no more problems. On a side note..... make sure you get a good connection on your plug! The manufacturer places a lot of dielectric grease in the connector. If it is not seated completely it will leave you stranded on the side of the road! My suggestion is to replace alternator, then run in driveway with every option you have on. Make sure voltage meter is correct. Hope this helps!
