Help!!!
I am being charged to replace BOTH the front and
REAR pads and rotors at only 35,000 miles. I can
accept the front, but not the rear ones. Has any-
one had the same problem? How long do rear
brakes usually last? I have pulled a 3,500 # trailer
for about 2,000 miles of the total. I always downshift when desending steep grades, even to
the point of not having to use any brakes at all.
Any advice at all would be helpfull in talking with
the service advisor.
Thanks in advance, Mark

Yes Paarrothead...the PSD has 96K on it...first 90K was put on by first owner in 17 months...bought the truck at what I though was a resonable price ($23K) for that amount of milage. Like truck was $5K higher. Beings it was only 17 months old, I could still smell the "new" in the cab. Though I'd try this approach(the high milage, near new) and see how it plays out...may come back to haunt me...we'll see.

I now have 84,000 on my 01 and have yet to change brakes!
I jest checked the pads a week ago and i have about 1/4" to 5/16" left, on both front and rear. (Now is about the time to change).
I use to get about 30 to 35 thousand tops on front brakes, (metal to metal ) and about 2.5 times that on rear brakes, (on my 94 and 97).
hope the second set works out better for you!

I just talked to the service guy, and he told me that
both rotors were heat-streaked and warped. He
said that the rear paads were fine, it was just the rotor that was bad. Every time I stepped on the
breaks lightly, the rig would kinda bounce up and
down, not side to side like normal warped frt. rotors
. There is no warranty on brakes and rotors, even
when you have an extended warranty,I checked.
