97 Expedition strange Switch
Body shop repaired the wrecked rear end of my expedition, now there is a 4 inch long, 1 inch wide round <Shotgun shell> shaped
object with two wires out of one end and the other end has
what seems to be a recessed push button behind a soft
rubber boot. it is now just hanging loose and the
body shop people don't seem to know what it is. It does not
appear anywhere in Chilton that i can find. The vehicle has
been repaired but cranks about two seconds and cuts off. It seems to me this is a fuel pump cut off switch, but cannot
find where it may have been attached. Any help with this is most appreciated. Bill...:

Welcome to FTE!! You could check e-bay for a ford shop manual, that would tell you what it is. Otherwise, see if you can crawl under someone else's truck and see if you can figure out where it goes.

That's probably the inertia switch. It opens if there's a hard impact and cuts off the fuel pump.
You normally just push the button to reset it, but obviously that's not going to work if it's not wired in.
I was thinking it went behind the panel where the jack is stored... may be the other side.
