if you have any tips at all, im open to suggestions
i have a '96 F-150, the check engine light turned on, and a engine test resulting in codes P0171 and P0172, indicating that both O2 sensors are running lean, but the truck itself seems to run fine, however i have noticed that the gas mileage has dropped at little bit. i have taken it into Firestone, but they can not seem to detect the specific problem, because there are so many possibilities of creating this problem. if anyone out there has had this problem, or any experience with this situation i would appreciate any help.
same codes on mine, it turns out it was a vacum leak at back of the engine, had a rubber elbow with a crack in it, check for vacum leak very carefully before spending money like i did,2 o2 sensors=$95. labor=cuts & cussing, vac leak=$ .02 electrical tape(just till $25. part arrives)
the rubber elbow that i was refering to is about the size of dime opening on both ends, one side connect on the backside of the intake , the other to a plastic tube that runs to pcv on the pass. side valve cover, i had same two codes plus others that show up.ive noticed that the rubber tends to dry out quicker on newer trucks hope this helps
