I remember a post a while back about all the stupid things we've done with our trucks. Since I haven't had mine that long, I really hadn't done anything stupid yet....but now I have.
My truck's windshield is split and broken. I'me surprised I haven't gotten a ticket yet. Anyway, my parts truck's windshiled was fine, except for a little BB chip in it. I got the bright idea that I'd put that window in my truck, so I got it out, babied it all the way home, then when I was peeling the grommet off of it, I noticed a CRACK!!!! I was careless! Now, I have TWO broken windshields.
What's worse than that is looking all over for a curved '56 windshield for one of my cars, then calling a windshield installer to come over and put the windshield in.
I bought a used shield a couple years ago for mine. Took it to work because it was winter. Spent an hour or so cleaning 20 years of residue off it with a razor blade. It was beautiful piece of glass. Then I chunked it on the aluminum door frame heading out of the shop door to load it up. Took a left turn and put it in the dumpster instead.
Man I think that's what I did! I babied it out of it's previous 45 year old spot on my parts truck, drove home carefully and brought it in last, carefully going in the front door!
I think I caught the curved part on the doorjamb! Well, on with the hunt.....
