1997 Rust

i'm thinking about buying a 1997 f-150 and i was wondering what the do's and don't's are. like do they rust bad? which engine is good/bad? color? 4x2 or 4x4? which wheels?

PLEEEASE HELP!!

I've never seen rust on them, that's probably due to the fact that they're really not that old. I'd own one of them if they didn't discontinue the strait six in them.

Acording to what I've read here, the 97's have some engine oil leak problems and the heads are not as good and the newer models. As for rust, that would depend on where you live and the care the truck has had. As for 4x4 vs 2X4 and v6 vs v8, depends what you want to do with the truck. I would be more concerned with the mileage and proper service records.
