I have a 98 F150 where the electric window on the passenger side quit working. Has anyone ever replaced an electric window motor and is it a difficult thing to do? I relatively handy and would like to attempt to do it myself if possible. Any direction and information is appreciated.
My 2001 F-150 did the same thing, but did not stop completely. Does yours slow to a stop or not work at all? The dealer took off my door panel and greased the tracks and cleaned the contacts on the switches and now it works fine. Good Luck.

Are you sure the motor is bad? I would make sure that is the problem, because I'm sure its a hassle to change out. The problem is that its such a tight space to work on. The window motor on my brother's Camaro went out and it was a big hassle to replace. If you do replace it, get a good quality replacement. My brother went with the cheap stuff and now the window goes up super slow.
I had the same problem with my 98 F150 drivers window. Although which side does not matter. All I had to do was take it apart and grease it up and it's been working fine ever since. Motors are about $50.00 if you need one. The passanger side started to do the same thing a while later so I did that side too and all is fine. It's a bit of a job to do but not to complicated. The biggest problem is that the motor is bolted to the slide mechanism and that is RIVETED to the door. Who knows why? (Six Rivets) They will have to be drilled out and replaced with Short - Short bolts. I think 1/2" so they dont interfear with the operation of the window when it travels up and down. Use lock washers too. Do not unbolt the motor without securing the counter spring. I drilled a hole through the slide mechanism and bolted it so it could not move. The spring is strong. Then remove the motor if necessary. You can test it when the slide mechanism with the motor is removed from the door. Just plug in the electric and try it out. Be careful how you hold on to it. There are posts about removing the door panel if you don't know how it comes off. Do a search on door panel removal.
I'm a little word-e this morning but the job takes a couple hours and it's not to tough. My cost was $0.75 for six nuts, blots and washers.
Good luck.
