need info on engine swap
Well my 292 finally gave up the ghost. Parts to rebuild are hard to find and pricy. Would like to drop the 302 in my stang, who has one of the better motor mounts kits. Oh the stang is getting the 460 I just finished.

National Parts Depot makes a motor mount kit for 61-64 that will let you put any ford V-8 you want in with no welding.http://www.npdlink.com/ check them out!

Parts for the 292 are easy to find new or used. Try "www.ford-y-block.com" and "www.y-blocksforever" to start with. Red's Headers, Sanderson Headers, and Stan's Headers make headers for the Y-block. The prices are about the same as small block parts and with the longer stroke of the 292 it can make a lot more power than the 302. My engine cost about $5,000 but half of the price is due to blue printing the engine block and some custom machine work, which you don't have to do. I also spent money on forged pistons, billet adjustable timing set, a stock, high performance cam, and valve train. Anyway, the point is you can build it to stock for about $1,500 or go the high performance route and spend a lot. Just like a small block. I have raced a few 5.0 and 4.6 mustangs in my truck - 1961 f100 - and only a supercharged one has won. My truck has a completely stock chassis and suspension at the time. You will also have a unique engine with the 292. How often do you see them at shows?
