every morning i go out and start the truck and it will not idol i have and eldabrock carb with a manual choke. I get it running but when i let off the gas it dies. I have to keep pumping the gas to keep it running. what could the problem be or maybe this is not a problem and evryones rig does this ?????????
My truck does that every morning. Considering these trucks have carbs. you have to pump the gas pedal at least five to eight times before starting the motor. And then, after you've started the motor you still have to give it a little gas for a few seconds.
Leave it half choked for awhile, or find a idle kickup (off something that had A/C) and put it on a switch so you can idle it up and dont have to sit there with your foot on the gas.
my truck always did that to, till it got warm, but it would idle fine with a stock air filter on it, but i didnt want a stock one on it so i have to pump the gas to keep it running till its warm, sounds liek most people's old trucks do that.
I have the same problem with cold weather starts with my Holley Carb. I have been considering a secondary throttle cable control in the cab, like on larger trucks with P.T.O.s.
Has anybody on this board ever done that, and is there a kit?
