window handle

When I rool up my window it skips a little. Like the teeth on the handle are starting to get stripped. So I got a new handle and when I removed the old one I noticed that the teeth on the gear that the handle attaches too is stripped. How do I change out that little gear? Can I just get the gear or is it attached to something else?

I believe you will need a new regulator assembly. That is basically the whole crank up unit.

How do I take out the regulator assembly? Is it hard to do?

You have to pull the door panel off, remove the window, and unbolt the regulator. You will find that they only left enough room to get one hand in there and lots of sharp thingies to scrape the back of your hand. Before you go to all that trouble, try wrapping the stripped regulator shaft with teflon tape (used for plumbing fittings). If the regulator isn't torn up too bad, that will probably work.

Thanx I'll try that. It just seems like the window goes up smoothly 85% of the way and then the last 15% it is forced up. I think that caused more stress on the handle forcing it up which caused it to strip. So I guess I need to change out the whole thing anyways. How do I get the wondow out. Is there a special way I should try?
