cam choice

What a good cam for a 1976 302? 260 or 270 duration or higher.

Give comp cam a call and they will ask you everything about your truck, let them know if you plan on doing any modifications in the future and what the intended use of the vehicle is. This will sound odd but call them 3 different times, add a day or two in between. You will get potentially 3 different suggestions, I'd pick one of the three you like or call again, or pick the most how many times you decide to call. Sounds odd, but it will, more likely than not, happen. Torqueking used one of the smaller extreme energy line grinds in his 302 and with tall gears (numerically low) seems to like it, however, another user, 90f150moneypit, used a ford racing cam (m50) or (A11) one of those, and appeared fairly happy with the cam. Then there are many others happy with the comp scattered about the website, I'd call comp though, thats my suggestion. I have been comparing the grinds, crane vs comparable comp and the comp made a noticable difference on an engine simlutaion program, does that mean anything? Thats up to you. Look at duration @ .050 ,more so, than advertised duration. I was told once by subtracting the advertised and duration @ .050 numbers the smaller number equates to that cam being more aggressive, seems effective because comp wins on this everytime, is this method accurate? Again thats up to you to decide. Good luck with your choice
