2.9L squaredance

I have and 86 4x4 Ranger, its 2.9 is shot. I know a 4.0 will bolt up to my tranny. What else will definitely bolt up? I don't want another 2.9.

I may be interested in that 67-72 crewcab short bed you said you could get cheap is that cab and front clip in good shape

The 4.0L will be a bolt in. Mounts and tranny will fit right up.

However, you'll have to move the entire electrical system (computer for the engine, etc.) over from the 4.0L, along with I believe any accessories attached to the engine, the cooling system, etc.

if you bolt a 4.0 to your tanny, be on the look out for a new of those too. the fm-145 is not the best tranny. and it has input shaft problems. and the torque of 4.0L could wipe it out.
