Premium here is only 91 Octane

So I have been drooling over a chip for some time now and am possibly looking at getting one within the next two months. It seems that to get the max out of a chip that I need to run 93 Octane, but here in Nebraska I only see 91. How much will this affect the chips performance. Ideally I would like to get a 3-stage chip with the custom tune to be for 90 Octane E10 because I prefer to use ethanol and it's what I use now anyways. It's also the same price as regular so the power/cost is more in my favor at the pump with the midgrade tune.
Basically I want the premium tune for when I need it, and a midgrade tune for normal driving to give me a bit more power and mileage out of the fuel that I'm already running. My problem is that will the one octane difference between midgrade and premium be enough to justify getting both. Thanks.

It will affect it but I can't say excactly how much because every Ford ECU code is different and there are literally hundreds of codes. If you use 90, it'll be even less powerful. I don't think the 1 point octane difference will be worth it for 2 tunes.

I just installed the chip and switched to premium fuel and discovered that in New Mexico the high octane is 91 also.
Our winter fuel is ethenol blend, so I don't know what
the summer blends octane will be. Hopefully no lower....maybe higher???

My hubby runs a multi program autologic chip. It has 4 programs designed to use 91 octane, which is all we have in California. His motor has 10.7 compression. No problems here.

It shouldn't be lower than 91 anywhere in the country except high altitude areas.

10/4 - I'm at 5500 ft above sea level, so I guess 91 is plenty good for here. I was just reading that for every 1000ft above sea level, you can drop the octane 1 point....that would mean we could drop ours 5.5 points....but from what starting point, I do not
know. Anyway, it sounds like 91 should work just fine at our
altitude.

Yes, you can actually get away with slightly less than 91 at that altitude.
