Intermitten Ticking
Just gave the 92 explorer new plugs and wires. What a difference in perfomance. no more stalling when heavy accelerating. just have to get the 4x4 working considering it so close to winter. Engine sounds good. noticed that the colant temp sensor doesn't work. no light at the 4x4 buttons. i know, check the motor in the transfer case. Seen alot of posts on this allready, one question here. is thier a fuse or relay that controls the switch and motor? After reving the engine i noticed that the rpms drop to about 500 when i let my foot off the gas, then they return to normal. is this normal for a 100k mile engine. Last but not least the engine still makes a ticking sound. Soundls like a lifter tick, but it goes away for a minute then comes back. no noise when just starting the engine till about another minute. ticks a minute stops for about a min then ticks agian. Other than that still sounds good. needs new u joints on the rear drive shaft and don't stop too good. i suppose that will give me a good chance to look at the auto hubs when it comes time to fix the brakes. Whew, that was alot. thanks for any help!
