I have installed a Pioneer Navigation system in my 2000 Excursion. For improved accuracy, it recommends you connect the nav package to the vehicle's "Speed Pulse Generator." Does anyone know if my Excursion has one, and where would it be located?
Monsta thanks, I found the generator, and hook up the navigation package to the generator. The Pioneer nav package gives me an error telling me that the Speed Pulse Generator is erratic. Any other ideals for anyone?
I figured it out! If anyone is installing a navigation system in their Ford, and it requires you connect to a speed pulse generator for increased accuracy, do not attempt the speed pulse generator on the read diff. The speed pulse generator that you need to attach your navigation system to is located from either front wheel turn knuckle.
I'm looking to install a Pioneer navi in my 98 F150. I was given the same advice about attaching the speed signal input to the rear diff. How did you know to use the front? Thank you for posting the tip! Can you give me any more information about your installation? The truck is actually Grandma's and I really don't want to mess it up.
