fpr/gauge question

Well, I finally got tired of the idiot light being on my 96 F250, so I read up and went down to summit racing and picked up an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (BBK-1707) and a guage (BBK-1617).

Right now I have the gauge attached to the regulator, but I think it leaks just a little (sometimes wet to the touch).

Should I take it out and put in the brass plug? I haven't been able to find the schader valve the gauge instructions are talking about, so doing that would leave me without the gauge.

any insight would be appreciated.

David

Did you put some Teflon tape on the treads before putting the guage on? The schader valve is on the fuel rail, mine was on the passenger side. It looks like a valvestem on a tire. You need the guage to adujust the pressure, unless you want to guess. Hope this helps.

use teflon paste on fuel line fittings. teflon tape will dissolve when mixed with fuel creating at the very least a dangerous situation. been there, done that, helped write part two and got a t-shirt. teflon tape is junk when it comes to fuel, use the paste. i somehow got lucky and the leaking fuel from the tape didnt get in the carb or burn when it dripped, no pured onto the valve covers. just thought i'd throw my $.02

If it were me I'd only have the gage on when making pressure adjustments. I also have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (Holley) and have only had the gage on three times for adjustments in the past year and that was only for the initial set-up.
