I was driving home the other night when my lights all went off. It was like you had just turned the switch to off because the dash lights, fog and head lights all went.
I was using the autolamp feature so I quickly turned the switch to manual on and everything was fine. A few miles down the road I switched them back to auto and drove for a couple hours and didn't have the problem again.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any thoughts as to the cause? Is it possible that somehow the light sensor got hit with another drivers headlights and the computer thought it was daylight?
There should be no way that headlights can simulate daylight. The sun produces vastly more light and it would be a serious safety hazard it this was expected. There is a problem, but I don't know what to tell you.
I have not had any problems, because I got the XL scab so I would not have all the expensive electronic gadgets that could go wrong. There not needed in a Supercab. The power stuff is helpful in you screw. Sorry I can't help more.
Wellman, suggest you get it to the dealer asap as that 's an obvious safety issue if the lights develop a habit of crashing at night. Since your dash lights also went out, i would say you are looking at more than just an autolamp problem. Might be simple to fix (maybe just a loose fuse holder or slight fuse connection corrosion) but i would get it checked out real soon.
Lights cut out again tonight...I'll be heading straight to my dealer when I get back to Illinois after Christmas...My guess would be a problem with the sensor or my light switch...

I can't believe you have not had it checked out already. After it happened once, it is a problem that must be addressed and it is a safety hazard. Electrical problems don't fix themselves by wearing in or something. We don't just replace a fuse that blows. The cause must be determined or the fuses will continue to blow.
Sorry about that. Tell us if the dealer is able to find the problem. Good Luck.
