grindin gears
my bro tells me its with most fords, but i just wanna know if its normal that sometimes ill be sittin in a parking lot, (out of gear), and when i put it in reverse, it grinds even tho im not movin.. maybe im retarded for askin this question, but if anyone could tell me why.. cuz its kinda embarassing when i scratch and everyone can hear it.. thnx

Reverse gears in the manual tranny don't have syncro's. It's not just a Ford thing either; off hand I can't think of any manual tranny that does have reverse syncros in it. Try forming the habit of attempting to put it into fifth, then shift into reverse; you don't actually have to go into fifth though. This will stop the rotating internal components before you shift into reverse and will stop the grinding.
