OK i guess i dont need more power but I want it. I have a 99 4.0 ranger OHV. without breakung the bank, what can i do to get a little more kick out of this thing?
If you are into serious upgrades like new heads cams etc. http://www.4.0performance.com/
Other things are new Maf, Throttle body, headers, cat back exhaust. Supercharger
Less than $200. i heard about "gutting" the MAF, and i ve done research on how to do it, but i want to talk to someone who did it to see if it really makes a difference.
never heard about gutting the maf, not sure there's anything that you can gut or you'd want to gut, maybe your thinkin of gutting the Catlyitic converter, i'd deffinatly get some kind of intake, then aftermarket exhaust of some kind, i think those are some good places to start with a new truck
You can chop part of the post off in the maf. This works best with the 3.0 engines. The ones on the 4.0 it seems to not work. Or cause idle problems. The idea is removing some post gives you move area to flow through. I would just get a pro-M maf. Its not worth jacking with yours(seriously)
Also on your year ranger they are smaller than the 2001+ rangers.

I was thinking about going to a junkyard and getting one to cut up to see if it really works, and if it didn't i would put my old one back on, but i guess i'll save the money. Thanx
