Spedo/Odo/Radio Problems

How is it going guys,

I have a 92 Ford Aerostar with a little over 100k miles and on friday i left the car running while going to the atm, and when i returned and opened the drivers door my voltameter dropped then whent right back to arround 14v, then my odo started flickering and the spedo stopped then the odo whent out completely. Now every time i open my drivers door (or when the dome light comes on) my radio clock resets. So now my speedo is out, my odo is out, the car wont shift into overdrive and my radio station changes everytime i open the friging door! I have never had a problem with it until now. If anyone else has ever had the same problem i would love a responce.

Joe

The speedo, overdrive, and odometer are probably the speed sensor on the rear differential housing. The radio sounds like a grounding problem. I doubt they are related.

Joe,

Just a thought, but could you be having a voltage problem? Maybe a bad voltage regulator or alternator? I can't think of any electrical relationship between the dome lights and the radio. Or the dome lights and the electronic instrument cluster.

But, a loss of power or reversed current may have had some kind of bad effect on the instrument cluster controller and radio memory circuits.
