Question Engine/Tranny performance mods

New to FTE - I recently bought a 96' E-150 Clubwagon, w/ 5.7L motor (This is the 351 correct?) It is in great shape with only 38k miles on it. I do a fair amount of towing and really bought it to tow my 22ft Ski Boat which it handles with no problems. I am just looking for a little more "pull" for the hills. Is there a "Chip" or other bolt-on mods that I should look at with out killin' my wallet? Also, I am looking at installing a heavy duty tranny cooler from B&M along with their shift kit. Anyone have any other suggestions or ideas for me?

-Dave

Superchips has a chip for it I think. I have no experience with it though. The 5.8L is the old 351cid windsor motor. A K&N air filter and a low restiction catylitic converter and 3" exhaust really woke mine up nicely.

I would recommend against the B&M shift kit. Do you know which transmission it has in it? It could be either an E4OD or an AODE. Either transmission should tow your boat just fine without a kit. If it has a towing package already it should have a very nice transmission cooler in the upper left (driver's side) corner of the grill opening (visible through the grill). If not then a cooler would be necessary to tow your boat.
