5W20 oil analysis
Did a oil analys on Motercraft 5W20 with 5150 miles on oil. Truck is a03 250 V 10 with 25,169 m
iles on truck.

I used Blackstone Labs. One of the reasions I did the analysis is that I plain to swap the truck to 5W30 mobil 1 and wanted to be able to see if I was getting my moneys worth out of it.

Looks like your V-10 is turning in some good numbers with the MC 5w-20. I'm not sure what your expectations are from M1 but it's not going to get much. if any, better. The blends are turning the best wear metal numbers against straight dinos or PAO basestocks. You really are getting the best of both worlds with the blends- may want to stay with one.

Good numbers. It's nice to see that it stayed in the upper 20 weight range. It you knew whether the TBN held up you probably could have run this a little longer. What kind of air filter do you use? If it's a K&N, you may want to think about changing it back to paper. Even if it's not, you may still want to think about changing it and see if you have any breaches of the air intake system. The silicon may be a contributing factor to the very slightly elevated iron number.

The air filter is the stock m/c filter. It did not look bad. the old if you see light through it it is ok test. After getting the results back I changed it for a Napa Gold filter. I had used Moble 1 in my last truck 215,000 at trade in with no oil use between oil changes. After reading posts on this forum I thought I would try to see if the syn vs dino was worth the extra money.

This is approximately 6 months old. Most likely the current production is different as all of the manufacturers are changing their product lines to get more in line with the GF-4's. It's never the same thing in the bottle anymore.
