help, stubborn stud
We tried to change the thermostat on my 93 econoline conversion, but the Stud coming out of the "intake" is stripped and it won't come out so we can replace it??
What do i do?????
If there's any left sticking out you may try a stud puller. I got one from Sears years ago and it's saved my skin a time or two, or three. I'd soak the offending hardware in PB Blaster for a while (overnight), reshoot it, then give it H*ll (easy like though). If that breaks it, then your stuck with using an EZ-out (not!). I had a problem similar on a Dodge intake maifold years ago. I drilled it and retapped it instead of chancing busting an EZ-out.
Hope my 2 cents helps some,

Mine has bolts, not studs though.
I ended up having to take the upper & lower intake manifolds off, got it on the bench & sheared the bolt off. Soaked the rest in PB Blaster, applied some heat from a small torch, then got the big vice grips out and she came right out. I wouldn't classify pulling the intake manifolds as a fun job.
I would agree that drilling & retapping would be better than attempting to use an EZout.
Out of interest, I was told by several people that I could grind the lip of the water pump down to give me access to the bolt without causing any damage, but I wasn't up for trying that.
