had the transmission in my 95 explorer changed about 3 months ago (old one died on me while i was Off Roding in the dunes) bought the new one from a junk yard and it cost me about $600 bucks, bear in mind that i ma located in ensenada Baja California Mexico and that cost in junk yard parts and labor are a little different than what you would expect in the states.
Well the new transmission seams to be working fiend except for a small bump that happens when you shift from first to second and the rest of the gears seam to be fiend.
Now the dam thing seam to be burning the transmission oil to fast and in 3 months I had to have the fluid changed because it was to worn out.
Any idea as to what might be causing the transmission to over heat and burn the fluid??
Any help will be greatly appreciated
Hope you have an extra large add on transmission cooler with that type of duty and climate. There are three things which could cause burning. The forward clutch operates in all forward gears. Forward clutch engages any time the transmission is in any forward gear and stays engaged even when you are stopped with your foot on the brake. This could be slipping. More likely it is your low or intermediate band that is slipping. Check to see if it feels solid in both manual low and 2. Could be the intermediate band (2) is damaged. These are not hard to work on though getting businesses to ship parts internationally is. For those into off roading, www.yourcovers.com will have the oversize 4WD cast tranny pan available in February. This adds an extra 2 quarts of fluid to the system and fits the A4LD,4R55E & 5R55E.
well guess lady luck is in my corner, had the tranny flush put new oil and transmission additive in it and the transmission started to shift properly. my guess is that the new tranny that i got to replace the one y killed in the beach must have been sitting around in the junk yard to long and the old oil that was still in it must have created a deposit that stuck to the interior of the band and the gears because ones I had the it serviced it took like 4 days to star working properly.
well I know that im keeping my fingers crossed and lest see what happens.
well have a very merry x-mas and a happy new year to all
