99 Explorer EB clatter
I have a 99 Explorer EB 4.0L that recently started a clattering sound (like when you were a kid and put a card on your bicycle that clattered on the spokes). This sound only occures between 2400RPM and 3000RPM when driving. If in park or neutral, you can run the engine to the same speeds with no clatter. Oil pressure gauge looks okay and I've changed the oil since this started. Also, I've had the CEL come on and then it will go off after a few driving cycles. Then a month or so later, it will do it again. For the last 4 days it has stayed on. It has also started to run poorly (like running out of gas) for a few seconds and then runs normal. This had just happened a couple of time, once a month or so, but now is getting more frequent.

Go to Autozone and get the codes first. The clattering is probably your cam tensioner. You should get your truck worked on at the dealership. But get the codes first and let us know what the problem is.
