HELP? Ever loose throttle response??

I have a 99 F350 powerstroke and when i was driving i lost the throttle responce and the dash went crazy all the lights came on and the gauges went down? The truck still runs but no throttle at all. I let it sit 1/2 hour then it was fine. Of coarse i took it right down to the dealer once it was running again but they have done all the test and still nothing....have any of you had this problem with your truck? ,...... Please let me know if you have and to what was the problem.. Thanks, Craig Moore

HELP? Ever loose throttle response??

Well this happend about a year ago and i reached up under the dash and grabbed a handfull of wirs and it quit....it has never happen since then. At that time i called the dealer and asked them what ishould do and they said if it didnt come up on there test there was nothing they could do.....thats the boat im in now they cant find it on the test so without repeating it im stuck with the bill and a truck that could lose throttle at any time.. I am hoping to find someone that has the same problem and had it fixed somwhere were they might have a record of it to pass on to my dealer. Thanks again love this site and should have a pic of my truck up soon!

HELP? Ever loose throttle response??

It may be just a bad throttle sensor (peddle) or bad wire. I went through 3 peddle assemblies, seems they were all bad, but personally I think there is a loose wire/connector someplace. Fortunately, I have a 2002 and it was all covered under warrantee. We'll see what happens this winter now that I have 32,000 miles on it.

HELP? Ever loose throttle response??

Well got the truck back after getting new u joints, pinion seal, steering box, front end alignment, and a bill for checking the wiring problem with no answer. First thing i notice my steering wheel is about 30 degrees off of center so they will be getting it back this week, but i really want to find this wire problem so they can get it all fixed up. The othe thing was after reading all the things they did to the truck i read that they swapped front tires side to side is that good? The truck pulled to the right a tad untill they swapped tires...now i noticed that it pulls a tad to the left under braking. It looks like the rain is gonna stop for a bit so im out to check for a bad wire, ground or whatever i can find!!

HELP? Ever loose throttle response??

Just guessing here, but it's an educated guess. Your key remark was that the instrument cluster went crazy when you lost throttle control. This is usually an indication that the ground to the computer is lose. I have had different vehicles by different manufacturers that did sort of the same thing. Temp, clock, direction(EWNS) all controlled by the computer wacked out at once. Every time it was the computer ground. Since your excilerator is also controlled by the computer, well......
Hope this helps.

My brother in-laws 99 PSD did the same thing you describe. He has a hypertech chip and it turned out to be the chip moving around and loosing connection in the computer.

How many miles on this trk?? I agree, this does stink. I think I might try my negotiating skills to at least get some kind of contribution from Ford. Keep one thing in mind when you make your pitch to the dealer......the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good luck, I hope ya get some help.

Dirtracer,
I hate to ask to the obvious, but how did they get corroted<sp>?
Bad seal on the windsheild, bad door seal, etc. Those may be covered by warranty. Electronic components have to have that good ole moisture problem in order to corode, which means it's getting in somewhere. Push those guys at the warranty dept, sometimes it helps.
