Control Trac Functioning

Is there anyone out there who can tell us how the Control Tarc system is supposed to operate?

I have been stuck in snow and only 2 wheels (diagonally opposed) were spinning. I have the 4x4 with the LS rear end. Does this sound correct if I had engaged the 4x4 system??

That sounds right. You really only have one wheel drive and two wheel drive. If you really have LS (and I don't), that gets it up to three. Many complain that the LS doesn't last very long. I only had one LS vehicle and it never seemed to work.

but if the LS is working correctly then I should have both rear wheels spinning and at least one of the fronts (with 4x4 engaged)?

The fact that only one of my rear wheels was spinning tells me that the LS is busted. The shop changed the rear diff fluid and did not add the modifier. Could this have burned up the clutch plates in the LS rear end???

Yes, it seems that your LSD has been burned out. LSD requires special trans oil, or adding modifiers. On my previous car, LSD has gone in less than 5K miles after they filled it with wrong oil.

With best regards,
Yuri.
