Why doesn't Ford offer chips?
Heres my question: for all the good they seem to do such as increasing torque, horsepower, mileage and such without engine/drivetrain harm why doesn't Ford offer this as an option?
Seems it would be easier to order it from the factory this way and there would be no warranty concerns.
I am obviously missing something. Any suggestions for my setup? I plan light towing ( single open car trailer) on an infrequent basis

1. Not everyone likes the firmer shifts a chip/tuner gives.
2. Towing extremely heavy loads is one of the things Ford programs for. The higher the load, the higher your EGTs. When you chip/tune a vehicle you need to install an EGT gauge and monitor it while driving with heavy loads (Ford can't count on you doing that). With higher tune settings, an intake kit and larger exhaust may also be required.
Again, thanks for the education. It's all new to me and I like to understand how and why not just turn the key and go.
The only mysteries I like are in a book or on the screen.

Its a little dated in its descriptions of products available but it does cover the basics of what is done with chips/tuners.
