Hi I have a 1976 f250 4x4 with a 390 and I am trying to put this all back together and the vacum lines were a mess with 90 percent either disconnected or pluged, What I was wondering if any one happens to have the vacum schematics or a picture or any thing to help me route this stuff right. thanks alot
If you find a diagram, tell me where it is. I have resorted to using a whole bunch for comparison, 351W, 302, 460, etc. all available, but no FEs, I have three manuals and no vacum diagrams?
Enough whining, one line you need for sure is the vacum advance for the distributor (I went without it for a week before I figured that one out), and you didn't mention if you have a manual or automatic tranny (don't know if that matters or not). I am still figuring out whether I need the EGR stuff. I have a 4 speed tranny and have removed my air pump and hoses, a lot of my vacum stuff is no longer needed either.
I just did a shakedown cruise of over 1200 miles and didn't do too bad but I think some of the acceleration lag and poor mileage I have is vacum related.
I will keep and eye out on this post to see what develops and will get back in touch if no one else comes up with anything. Usually a site is mentioned (one of the parts delearships) and that is where I found everything but an FE Ford diagram.
Vacuum routing? What is it that needs to be routed to? Dist goes to a ported vacuum source ( the nipple sticking out of the main metering block on the right side of a Holley) Auto trans modulator line needs full manifold vacuum as does the power brake booster. If you've got in dash A/C then there's at least one line from there to manifiold vac Any others will be related to the smog systems and aren't neccessary unless you want all that crap to work.
