Please somebody help! I need a complete vacuum diagram for a 1994 Explorer 2WD. The calibration sticker under the hood does not help. These are the same vacuum diagrams found in CHilton's and Haynes. I am not too keen on dropping a hundred large on a service manual from Ford. Does anyone have a complete diagram or at least some really good photos of their Explorer's engine compartment showing the vacuum lines? Anything from a 92-94 should help. Thanks
The sticker shows 4 lines coming from the distribution manifold: two going to the throttle body, one to the PCV, and one to the charcoal canister. There are actually 7 lines: the four mentioned plus one to the modulator, one to the brake booster and one that was plugged when they all blew off a couple years ago. I was at sea and my wife had taken the truck to Autozone. Apparently, they couldn't find where the last one went so it was capped off-I guess under the assumption that it was not used. But the truck runs bad under load (rattling in engine) which is normally attributed to either a bad vacuum or timing. The timimng checks out fine. There is no evidence of mechanical problems and it's not a pinging or knocking sound as if it's bad gas or carbon buildup. Like I said, diagnostics show no faults-just code 111 which means everything is OK. What I need, then is a comprehensive diagram or illustration of the vacuum system to ensure there are no other manifolds and where everything plugs in.
I have a 91 EB explorer and just looked at my vacuum tree, while I did not trace all the lines I can tell you that on mine there is one plugged input line on the tree, also one of the inputs on the tree is for the vacuum diaphram which has something to do with the cruise control. You mention the PCV coming out of this tree however on mine it has a seperate line coming from the intake manifold just in front of what I keep referring to as the vacuum tree.Hope this helps.
