i was driving through a golf community just after mudding. My buddy was in front of me and we were headed to his house. This woman came walking out of nowhere not pying attention looking at her $1000 shoes or something. He swerved past her but she walked right out in front of me. I have ABS and no lights are on, but the front tires locked up. It scared her (and me too). I want to know why it locked up? Even if there was mud on the tires shouldnt the ABS work?
I dont care much for AntiLock brakes, More to go wrong and harder to work on. Ever wonder why a car with the police package often dont come with antilock brakes? Waste of Money and cops cant whip poopies
Rear anti-lock equipment is standard. My truck unfortunately has four wheel anti-lock. And I agree with c-rossman. Anti-lock brakes are very bad. Mudding on some very slimy stuff in the middle of the desert, I suddenly came up to a ditch. I slammed on the brakes and didn't even slow down. That damn clicking sound the anti-lock system makes was laughing at me as I caught the ditch and landed sideways sliding toward's my parked friend. No damage done, but I'd love to pull the ABS fuse if I knew it wouldn't cause any problems.
i know that in the new jeep libertys there's a switch to turn off the ABS. i think off road rangers should come w/those. i would look into pulling the fuse. i know that jeep wrangler users do it when they go off roading and it doesn't harm anything. maybe post a thread on it.
