5spd tranny problems and replacement
I would like to thank all the replys about the clutch problems. I have another question: after changing everything in the clutch assembly I put it back together and to my surprise the noise was still there and even louder. I crawled underneath with truck running and I heard all this chattering and grinding in the tranny. so for the 4th time I have to tear it out. My question is: My bronco II is a 2.9,4wheel drive, 1989. The tranny is a mitsubishi. I had a very hard time finding one. set me back $550.00 with 60,000 miles, did I get burned on this? Is there another tranny that will bolt to the transfer and the block? How reliable are the mitsubishi 5spd? Can I go with a newer trans out of a 4x4 ranger or explorer? any comments are welcome and thanks.
