Wink Diet soda

Well folks, the big one is turning into an old man.

About 70% of what I drink throughout the day is water. I know it's good for me, and I like to pig out so why not pig out on water.

However, if H20 is out of the question, I drink a diet coke. Not because I'm on a diet (although I could definitely do away with some of the tonnage) but because I like how it
  • Doesn't ruin your taste buds (not sure why regular soda does that, but my ability to taste seems handicapped when drinking regular soda)
  • Goes down easier and is more refreshing.
  • Doesn't give me heartburn.
  • Doesn't "stay with me" (for 20 minutes after drinking a regular coke, I can still taste it and generally "feel" it. I'm not sure how to explain it, but I don't like it one bit)

Not bad for a guy who used to drink soda like it was his job.

Thoughts? Comments? Encouragement?

With a name like "DrunkenMonk", I'd figure you'd be dipping into something a bit harder than water

I like water alot - I think it's the fact that I can drink as much as I want and it's good for me.

You should've been there for my "apples" thread, where I professed my love for apples.

mmmm...apples........

The water at home and at work tastes horrible, and a filter doesn't help. Bottled water is pricey. But I drink about 40% soda, 60% milk. To bad I can't do milk at work. I used to be a 6 pack of pepsi a day man. Now more like 2-3. I'm slowly working down to almost nothing. I can't imagine quitting smoking. I get massives headaches if I haven't had a soda by 3 or 4 pm.

Oh, I also love orange juice!

Hey Drunkenmonk. "its a 49, 50, 51, 52, 53..........." Classic.

I try to do water as much as possible...but I love milk. I buy a gallon and keep it in the fridge at work and polish it off once a week. I back off during the winter because it makes me generate too much phlegm which my girlfriend finds unattractive (though I can hark a pretty good lunger!).

Otherwise I stick to juices--apple or orange.

Water and Diet Coke for me. Can't stand to drink a regular soda anymore. In the morning I drink coffee with artificial sweetner.

I try to avoid "raw" water, fish poop . . and do other things, in it.

Coffee (by the gallon - all day and night)
coke (by the can)
FILTERED water (by the bucket full - washes the coffeee scum out)

Now that we are mentioning it . . liquid is the majority of my diet - I eat one "meal" a day, but I am drinking something constantly.

The life of a Geek. So sad.

When I was in school (University), we had to conduct a survey on eating styles and caloric intake. It is dictated that is a person drinks one coke/Pepsi (non-diet) a day they have the possibility of gaining 8 – 12 lbs per year.

120 Calories (10 calories per oz.)
365
43,800 Calories per year in Soda alone

Who only drinks one and if you are person that goes and gets the 64oz at the local store the hit is much bigger hit.

640
365
233,600 Calories per year

I drink either water 80% or diet coke/sprite 20% (depending if I am trying to not drink caffeine)
