The difference in money between the two cams in negligable, I'd go with the 268 for two reasons: The rpm is no where near crazy, and, it doesn't sound like your done with that project to me!

It seems the heads make much more difference than the cams, I went down the list of the heads listed in my database for 351's. The range of results was unexpected.

Have fun, and if ya need more number run, don't hesitate to ask.

There was really no difference between the two on the graph. As far as how they would compare on paper the 4X4 cam would have a very slightly flatter powerband with slightly less peak torque. It may rev another 200rpm or so. The only real differernce was 1 degree on the LCA and a little more lift on the exhuast.

Once again appreciate it Ratsmoker.

Seems all the 4X4 262 cam would provide over the XE262H cam would be springs that wear a minute amount quicker. Thanks again, later

So am I starting to bother you yet? Hope not.

I was recommended another one, all together, if you have interest or some free time and extremely bored, could I get you to run this one as well. Sorry I keep bothering you, just trying to make the right choice. Again I appreciate your time, thanks

Thanks ratsmoker.

Now that is interesting, that cam had only 494 lift on both sides, however it did have a smaller lobe seperation, and more exhaust duration @ .050. It would definitely have a rough idle with the lobe seperation and more duration, and the torque is right there. Interesting, any thoughts? Thanks again, later

Are any of those engines in your signature, under dyno, yours? Did you do your own body work? BTW, nice truck. later

I wish those enignes were mine! Those are people that own FEs. I didn't do my own body work either. It looks great in the picture but not perfect up close. I think either cam will work great. The 108 LCA will make the power band a little narrower. The other cam has more .050 duration which means that your valves are moving off the seat faster and should give you a little more power like the chart said and have a better idle.

Yeah thats what I thought. Well even for a 10 footer your truck looks pretty good, they don't have to be perfect to enjoy. later

Ratsmoker,

I have a question for you. I have a 408 stroker that I am curious what it would come up with on your Dyno Software with the cam that I have in it. Any chance I could get you to run some numbers?? If so, what all info do you need? I will be extremely grateful for your help.
Thanks
Kevin

Well ratsmoker its your resident pain in the @$$.

Would you be able to run a cam if the only spec I gave where:

advertised duration 290 int /300 exh
duration @ .050 214 int /224 exh
lift intake .472 and exhaust .496 at the valve or
.295/.310 lobe lift

peak torque 3000 rpm
peak bhp 4500 rpm

later

I need compression ratio, heads, cam part number, exhaust setup, intake and I think thats it.

I will probably get to both of your graphs tomorrow. Movie time here shortly.
