I know that to do the plugs and wires on my truck you are supposed to remove the upper intake manifold. I haven't looked at it yet so I don't know how involved the process is. I just racked up a $1,000 credit card bill so I would rather not take it in to the dealer and spend more money. But if it is too difficult I guess I have to. Any tips on doing this job myself?
i still have to do mine. i heard people say that you can access the back ones w/those ratchets with the hinge, allowing you to ratchet at an angle. it sounds a lot easier than removing the manifold. good luck. -jesse

I don't think a manifold would be very difficult to remove. Just remember they can get heavy. If you have a friend that can help you lift it, that would be great. The heads are the really heavy part of the motor though. I remember lifting that rusty head off my friend's Topaz in the rain...
