I am interested in buying a 1971 Ranchero, 351 - 2V Auto...Trans has no Drive...Some rust in easy areas to fix if I can find patch panels...Need new interior to make it stock, it is now tuck and roll..and brown to boot. Runs very strong, looks like a 9" has AC and PS and aftermarket PW...Has disc brakes and no rust under the car or in the bed. Handle for the tailgat is hammered, so I would have to find one and the molding on top of the bed has those darn snaps for a tanneau cover in them. The guy says he is the third owner and has had the car since 1993. He says it had 41K on it when he got it and because the engine was siezed and sat for a long time he believes that the now 98K miles is original. He has never seen it turn past 100K. It is a former (fighting) chicken ranch truck and just ran around the ranch. The suspension looks stock and never molested, but could use new bushings. It does have misc. leaks which have coated the underside and kept rust out...All glass is good and chrome is fair...VIN is 1A47H19XXXX and I can find no info tag...The asking price is $1500.00...Should I? Or am I wasting my time?
it sound like a good find to me.
little or no rust in the bed is a definete plus. glass is good and all the moldings are with it. too bad about the taneau snaps.
I'd say thats a fair price. and a steel if it was the CJ429 but not with that vin code. its a popular style so if you don't get it someone else will. did the owner say what happend to the drive shaft?
