I own a 2000 Ford Ranger with 65,000 miles on it. The problem I am having is there seems to be a creeking noise coming from the steering column whenever I turn the wheel and the steering wheel seems to be a lot looser than normal. I just had the power steering pump replace about a week ago. Any ideas on what the problem could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have had the same problem with my 98 and I ended up putting a new rack in it and new bearings in the shaft. Sorry to burst your bubble...err...wallet.
