I just would like to let all you good, helpful people know I'll be absent for a while. Thursday my mother, at 83 years young had a mild stroke. Apparently she crawled around on the kitchen floor trying to get to a phone for almost 7 hours. Man that really hurts. We live about 3-3 1/2 hours away depending on the mood of my right foot. Jane and I came home today to restock the suit cases and tie up some lose ends here. Mom was better yesterday than today. Seems like the hospital staff knows more than what they are telling us. We are going thru the motions as if she will return home but it might not happen. Setting up a life line and lining up neighbors and friends for help. I lost my dad 22 years ago and I wasn't there thinking he'd bounce back. This time I won't be as selfish. Until I'm back God Bless all who have helped me with my stupid questions and keep this great site alive and pumping out the knowledge we all have come to expect.
Hope your mom recovers her health.
She's fortunate to have a loving son that can give her support when she needs it most.
We'll still be here when you get back.
I am so very sorry to hear about your mom. I agree she is very fortunate to have a son like you! Your mom will be in our thoughts and prayers, and we wish you the best.
Take care, and we'll see you when you return.
I'm back but I don't know for how long. I brought mom home Saturday. She seemed to being doing fine till today. We took her blood pressure. Right arm; 187/96 left arm 206/100. Scary numbers compared to what they were in the hospital. She will be returning to see her Dr. Tuesday AM. I have inherited her '92 T-bird as she can no longer drive. She can't do steps and the hard drive is losing memory at a rapid rate. When I left her this afternoon I knew it might be the last time I see her. With 1 artery blocked totally and another at 80% it's only a matter of time before the back two arteries in her neck won't be able to handle the extra duty. Thanks for your support and it is good for me to see all that has happened since I last logged in.
After having a few family members as well as my 43 yr old wife suffer multiple strokes I am no stranger to this medical dilemna.
If you need 1st hand support in coping with this.
Please fell free to contact me.
I'm sorry. I'll pray for her to get better. She's a very lucky woman to have someone like you to call her mom. On the bright side.....she'll be going to a better place as most of us will.
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. It is really tough when these things happen. Remember to be strong and take it one step at a time. Hang in there and hopefully all will be well.
Keep it Rubber Side Down!
As always from this great group I appreciate your support. I will tell you that Mom is a tough old Swede. It's the second day now that she has been alone and as far as I can tell she's gaining strength. She sounds better in her voice which was affected. She claims the therapy is going well too. So let me just say your help may have helped and thank you. I just would never want to put these pressures on anyone. If only for a brother or sister to help with, but I had to be the spoiled brat. Thanks again and God bless.
