White smoke = unburnt fuel.

Try cycling your glowplugs through 2 or 3 times before actually starting in cold weather.

Plugging in the block heater for a couple of hours will help a lot too.

Just like jschira said unburned fuel.Mine does it too when its cold out.Deisel fuel gets thicker when it gets cold out.Plug it in over night or a couple of hours before you leave and you'll be fine.

You may have one or more bad glow plugs.

I am sure you do this, but let your GP indicator go out before you
crank it, caught the wife tring to cold start mine the other day, thought she was foggin' for bugs ;-) .
these thing arn't gasers, they need to get the plugs HOT before
you crank it in the winter. (YEAR ROUND)
