In the past few days, my brake light and abs light come on when I press the brakes in the morning when its cold (30 or so). The red brake light will go back off and stay off after a while, but the abs light stays on until I turn off and restart the truck.
My truck had a brake job done in February 2003 and seems to stop fine. It only seems to do this when it is cold. Is this an early indicator of a problem or does my truck just not like the cold weather? This is in regards to a 1994 Ranger XLT supercab, 3.0 V6, 5 speed.
do you have 4 weel abs? the red light means you have low break fulid level. for the abs check and see if all of the connections are good. and get some wire dry and coat all connections. moisture may have got in there . check the sensor on the rear axle.
Check the fluid level first. I had the same problem with my 94
Ranger. The ABS would come on after a minute or so of driving. There is a grey wire harness on the driver's side wheel well that goes back to the rear brakes. I pulled it apart and sprayed PB Blastic on the contacts. Problem went away. Check for other harnesses in the rear as well if that doesn't solve it.
