Didn't know that there was any other option other than stock dist. caps??

I know Mallory makes a crab cap for their one model, but it fits only that model. It's not interchangeable with any other dist.(that I know of).

I could use a lesson in the definition for a "crab cap"

There is a kit availabe for converting to the Duraspark type wide 2-part cap, but I have a feeling that's not the direction we are going here...

I'm trying to visualize what you mean by fitting sideways. Aren't the Mallory and Accel crab caps the same configuration?

The 427 marine engines used a crab cap but the dizzy wasn't a Ford unit.

the spring clips on a accel are side to side on stock dist they are almost front to back and having a tunnel ram it realy interfears as i cant go to high or back or i would have run stock two piece cap i could lockout the advance and remove the pot and just turn dist out of the norm.

ps did not know the dist on a marine setup was diferent . are they like a 391?

Ah, I understand now, in other words the clips are 90 degrees off so the posts would face front and back instead of left and right.

The marine dizzys were Mallory single or dual point.

Maybe the only option is to buy an aftermarket dizzy?

raise your distributer and turn your cap the direction you need it and then point the roter at the post that you want to use as #1. with the #1 cylinder at top dead center on the compression stroke, of course . it should work a friend tells me that as long as the engine engine recieves spark in the right order and at the right time ,it doesnt matter which post it comes out of,good luck ,bob

Hey I was just thinking, if you're gonna run a tunnel ram, do you really need a vacuum advance?
