Front hub interchange,2WD,E-350
I am working on installing a '51 Ford cab onto an '84 E-350 dually chassis. The chassis is rear wheel drive only. The front is twin I-beams with hubs that are the dually style having the hub spacer to set the dually wheel center outward so that the tire will be positioned in the correct manner.
Can these spacers be removed from the hubs, and studs for wheels be installed? I would like to use a standard offset wheel rather than the highly offset dually wheel for the fronts
If the spacers cannot be removed, from the front dually style hubs, can standard 8 lug hubs be made to fit the existing spindles? Standard front hubs being those used on single rear wheel drive F250 or F350's.
There seems to be a lot of used SRW wheels on the market, but not very many dually wheels at reasonable prices. I don't like the appearance of the front dually simulator covers. It places the center cover out too far beyond the wheel and makes it too vulnerable.
I will probably use the snap-on dually wheel simulators for the rear dually wheels to dress them up and leave them alone.
As a point of curiosity, will the new SRW front hubs with metric studs fit onto the older spindles?
