Constructive Criticism
Personally,I believe that this truck could weigh a bit less and still be just as tough,reliable and comfortable.
What do you owners think?
I am wanting to keep this in a positive light,and that's the motive behind the title.
Also, I understand this is a "truck" but they could add a few conveniences for those of us who also use it as a daily driver. Radio controls built into the steering wheel would be a nice place to start. Also, as someone who has put the "AdvanceTrac" system on the Expeditions through its paces, I would gladly pay extra for that option if it were available on an F-250.
Changed out the front bumper on mine this weekend, that's not where all the weight is! Couldn't believe how lite it was, 40lbs. The weight has to be in the frame and body? As to what to change, I'm not in the majority here, I like a truck with rubber mats, role up windows, those funky manual wheel locks, etc. I do have a remote start and remote access because I like to be warm. To answer your question I like the truck just about the way it is, next one WILL be diesel though. Single digit gas mileage is kinda hard to swallow!

1) Make the back seat so you could fold it down... I would like the option of carring things in the cab, but not on the cloth seats.
2) Copy the Chevy 4 wheel steering... my 22' truck is a bear to park and would benefit from the system. (if they could make it reliable)
3) Get rid of the garbage bag holder and give me something useful... Maybe a change holder, or a rechargeable flashlight.
4) Better headlights... My 2001 has really bad light coverage even with the extra "fog" lights.
5) I have done some towing with mine and it works great. However, the rear differential had the paint peel due to heat. Paint these things with high temp paint!
Love the truck...

Hey, Jetjock16 -- my F-250 has a console where the headliner meets the windshield, between the sun visors. It tells you MPG, direction of travel, and miles left 'till gas is empty. Not sure which option package it came with, but it is cool.

Edmo, you can replace them with "PIAA 9007 Xtreme White Plus" (Model # 19617 - twin pack) or "PIAA 9007 Platinum Super White" (Model # 19607 - twin pack) bulbs. These model #'s are for 92-02 F-Series Ford trucks. I did, and there is a real hecova' difference. I plan on doing my fogs & reverse lights, too.
- cloth buckets could reall use adjustable lumbar support and tilting pan;
- dashboard could use some designated flat spots for additional switches and controls, along with a decent place to mount a couple of radios;
- the shifter on the 6-manual is kinda strange, soft of "spring-o-matic" rather than having hard detents;
- reverse gear should numerically match the lowest forward gear (duh!);
- an AWD-style tranfer case would be appealing;
- redesign the V-10 block to get rid of the balance shaft;
- route the systems stuff in the engine compartment so that one side has some spare room for owner-installed goodies such as accessory fuse blocks, relays, etc;
- rear-wheel steering might be nice for parking, only if it can be as reliable as a straight rear axle;
- bumpers and trim should be BLACK, not "argent";
- suspension components & transfer case should be designed to increase ground clearance (I'd hate to try sneaking my Superduty over a stump);
- front wheel well should accomodate 35-36" tires without lifts or other mods.
but the Super Duty monogram should be just that!"1) Make the back seat so you could fold it down... I would like the option of carring things in the cab, but not on the cloth seats."
I agree 100% with this one!
