Hey all - I'm looking to replace my seats in my 98 Ranger XLT - currently with a 60/40 split bench, cloth -
Here's what happened to my current seat - the back support systems, thick wires that run up and down and across the back have popped and come loose. I think the easiest thing is to just replace the seats, correct?
So here's my question - is this an easy task? Do I need special tools, drill any holes, etc?
Also - I've found some similar years, between 95-2000, does anyone know if they will fit in the tracks if they are the 60/40 split?
And finally - does anyone know if a power drivers seat can install in my cab, which came with standard manual (no power) seats?
Funny that the supports broke - I'm only 5-8 and 150lbs!
I had an uphostery repair done on the 60/40 seat in my 94 Ranger last spring, and during the course of fixing it the shop found damage to the back support system. Although they were able to weld the back section, I could have bought a new one from Ford for around $65 or so. Why go through the grief of trying to find a decent used seat when the part is so cheap?
I don't recall, but I had more work done than you're talking about. Myself, I got sick and tired of looking at torn, hammered, and dirty seats in junkyards that were priced higher than they were worth.
